Parenting
Parenting, or lack there of, is quite a common issue in our
society. The young generation is ignorant to their responsibilities and their
role in society as a direct result of the bad or inadequate parenting of the
parents.
The parents of our generation look back on their past and
remember their parents being rather strict and impolite. Thus, in an attempt to
become better parents they neglected the important role this strictness had on
their development.
At an early age a child needs physical demonstrations on
right and wrong. Saying curse words in front of little kids makes them learn
and speak them too. Similarly a well mannered and respected parent would be a
nice role model for a child. Parents should portray themselves as strong and
firm individuals so that their kids may learn the same qualities from the
parents. And if the parent is not strong willed and a good person what's to
become of the child that's being influenced by this faulty personality?
Parents these days give too much relaxation to their
children and spoil them beyond repair. Instead of teaching them lessons on
their mistake they try to solve the issue themselves, making the child
dependent on them. Other times when the child does something wrong instead of
telling him what he did wrong the parents stay quite while fearing their kid
becoming sad, depressed or detached if they speak up to their child
Later on in life when such kids are faced with difficult
times they are not equipped to live through them. Often falling towards drugs
or crime as its an easier escape from difficult times. In my opinion, crime
rates and drug addictions would become scares and rare just by proper
parenting. If the kid is taught to handle his own mess or difficult times from
a young age, he will tend to be more firm and ready to face challenges in life
instead of just become a failure and an addict.
Thus parents should play their part in the early lives of
their children as they are also responsible and accountable for what their
child does in the view of our religion Islam.
